Taazima Kala Essack
I am is passionate about learning and discovering new ways to help make the environment and people around her thrive. Born and raised in Botswana, I am, by nature, a curious person who is always eager to grow and learn more and adventure to try new things. I love travel, literature, my family and baking up a storm.
I am a Public Relations professional and currently manage Hotwire Public Relations Consultancy. I hold a BA (Hons) English Language and Literature, MA English Literature text and Transmission and an Associateship of King’s College London (AKC), (King’s College London, UK). I am the only Accredited Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (MCIPR) (UK) in Botswana, and love investing more in growing in this industry that I love.
It is an honour to be a part of the amazing group of women in the Board of Learn To Play, all of whom have so many different things to add, and who, collectively, are the strongest force of women I know. I think my passions and experience can help me add value to this amazing organisation, as I hope to see it not only grow in footprint, but in sustainable and long-term impact so that no community in Botswana has to go on without early childhood interventions. I look forward to seeing every community proudly support mamapreneurs who are empowered to change their narrative, and who make a demonstrable change in the formative years of the kids around them through purposeful play.
My favourite childhood memories involved curling up in a good book or “baking” mud cakes outside in my play-bakery, both of which allowed me to plot adventure at every turn – something every child should be able to enjoy in a way that adds to their learning!
